A mentee takes an active role in their own development by being open to learning, feedback and new perspectives. They are committed to setting goals, reflecting on their progress and applying the knowledge and guidance gained through the mentoring relationship. An ability to challenge – to help the mentee question their assumptions, beliefs and perspectives
Being a role-model by providing a positive example from which the mentee can learn
A willingness to share the benefit of their experience and stories of success and failure
A willingness to help expand horizons. Help the mentee see possibilities that would otherwise be hidden from them. This may involve signposting to opportunities in the world around them or it may be helping to raise the mentees self-awareness
