ePortfolio Review
This page provides you with further information on the upcoming changes to the ePortfolio Review process and the supports that will accompany this transition. The changes to the ePortfolio Review process arise from the recommendations in the ‘Review of the CPD Model for Pharmacists in Ireland’ carried out by Mazars.
Following this Review, the Pharmaceutical Society Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (Continuing Professional Development) (Amendment) Rules 2025 were enacted last year. The changes will come into effect this year, with the first submissions under the new system due in January 2027.
What changes are being introduced?
Annual ePortfolio Review
The ePortfolio Review will move from a five year cycle to an annual cycle. Under previous legislation, pharmacists were required to submit thei ePortfolio extract for review once every five years. This has now changed, and pharmacists will be required to submit their ePortfolio extract each year.
Inclusion of Recently Registered Pharmacists
Under the previous model, pharmacists were not included in the review process until they had been registered for three years. This is changing and recently qualified pharmacists will now be included in the annual cycle. For the 2027 review, all pharmacists who are on the Register before 1 January 2026 will be required to submit their ePortfolio for review.
What do you need to do to prepare?
You do not need to take any action right now. We will keep you fully informed at each stage of the process. We will be sharing further details, updated guidance, and a range of supports over the coming months to help you prepare for this transition. 
As a profession , pharmacists consistently demonstrated an exceptional commitment to CPD with 98% of those included in last year meeting the required standards.
