Saint John of God Hospital will hold a conference entitled "Human Sexuality in Everyday Clinical Practice" on Friday 6 March 2015 from 9.00am to 4.00pm.

This event will offer health professionals of all disciplines an opportunity to reflect on the centrality of human sexuality in clinical practice. Participants will be introduced to the historical context of how sexuality has been understood and approached in mental health care. It will also outline current research and theory which informs best practice in clinical and therapeutic contact with clients. It will explore common sexual difficulties and identify appropriate assessment strategies, and relevant medical and psychotherapeutic treatment approaches. In all of this, the event aims to empower participants to incorporate greater attention to the psychosexual needs of their clients in their routine clinical practice, and to overcome professional reticence in engaging with psychosexual matters.
