PHARMACEUTICAL ASSISTANT ADVISORY GROUP AND PANEL

Welcome to this dedicated space for pharmaceutical assistants. We are pleased to share important updates about the evolving Continuing Professional Development (CPD) landscape and to invite you to be part of shaping the next phase of CPD in Ireland.

Upcoming regulatory changes mean that pharmaceutical assistants will be included in the ePortfolio Review process. The IIOP has been tasked with developing and managing this review system. Although you will not be required to submit CPD cycles until 2028, we are beginning preparatory work now, and we would value your input as we build the systems that will support you.

To ensure that this system is developed in partnership with the profession, we are inviting pharmaceutical assistants to participate in two new structures that will help guide and inform this work:

  • A Pharmaceutical Assistant Advisory Group, which will provide advice to the IIOP on the development and implementation of the new CPD review system.
  • A Pharmaceutical Assistant Panel, consisting of individuals who wish to be informed about, and considered for, opportunities to support activities such as standard setting, peer review, pilot testing, and peer support.

We are now seeking expressions of interest from pharmaceutical assistants who would like to be involved. We encourage anyone with an interest in supporting colleagues and contributing to the profession during this period of transition to apply.

You may express your interest in joining the Advisory Group, the Panel, or both. Further information and the application form are available at the links below:

The closing date for applications is 8 April 2026. If you have questions about the roles or the selection process, please contact info@iiop.ie. We appreciate your engagement and look forward to working with pharmaceutical assistants across the country.

SUPPORT FOR PHARMACEUTICAL ASSISTANTS

As we move toward 2028, the IIOP will provide a range of supports to help you prepare for the ePortfolio Review. These will include guidance resources and a series of information webinars, which will be introduced over the coming months. We will share further details as these become available.
