Pharmacy and Medicines Legislation

It is important to be aware of the pharmacy and medicines legislation that apply to the practice of pharmacy in Ireland to ensure patient safety, maintain public trust and for the provision of high-quality professional care, within a pharmacist's scope of practice. The Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI)

The PSI - The Pharmacy Regulator, is the statutory body responsible for regulating pharmacists and pharmacies in the public interest. Their mission is to assure patient safety and public trust in pharmacy through effective regulation. The PSI is governed by a 21 member Council, with a non-pharmacists majority. The Pharmacy Act 2007 (as amended) established the role and responsibilities of the PSI.

The Pharmacy and Medicines Legislation training programme provides a comprehensive overview of pharmacy and medicines legislation that applies to the practice of pharmacy, along with practical applications of legislation, and its interaction with other tools such as the Code of Conduct for Pharmacists.
