New to Practice Resource

The New to Practice resource has been developed to support pharmacists who are new to practice in Ireland, particularly those who have obtained their qualifications outside Ireland. It brings together key information to help build understanding of the legal, ethical, and professional framework governing pharmacy practice in Ireland.

The resource is structured into two main sections: Legislative and Regulatory Information, and Pharmacy Practice in Ireland. It provides an overview of key requirements and guidance, covering areas such as legislation, registration, the Code of Conduct, CPD, inspections, and statutory processes.

It also includes practical information to support day-to-day practice, with links to PSI guidance, HSE-PCRS resources, and professional updates, as well as topics such as antimicrobial resistance, open disclosure, and pharmacist wellbeing.

As each section includes links to additional resources, the content can be worked through over time, allowing users to engage with it at their own pace.

While primarily intended for those new to practice, the resource also serves as a useful reference for all pharmacists seeking to refresh or strengthen their knowledge.
