In this webinar presenter Leonie Clarke  provides an overview of the Falsifies Medicines Directive (FMD), focusing on theimpact of FMD since its implementation. The webinar provides an outline of the  European Medicines Verification System (EMVS) which connects various national systems through a central EU Hub aimed at combating the issue of counterfeit medicines. Leonie provides an overview of the roles and responsibilities of the various stakeholders in the Irish setting. 

Leonie discusses operational aspects of the Irish medicines verification system,and the importance of scanning practices to ensure safety in the supply chain. The  significant progress in reducing alerts and improving efficiency is presented, also identifying challenges  such as low decommissioning rates and persistent alert management issues, with some of the common causes of alerts identified. Additionally, the webinar addresses the upcoming impact of regulatory changes due to Brexit, , and emphasises the need for proactive communication and resource support to manage these transitions effectively while maintaining the integrity of the pharmaceutical supply chain.
