This new Postgraduate Certificate in Health Promotion awarded by NUI Galway, with a named pathway in Cardiovascular Health and Diabetes Prevention is closing for applications soon. This exciting programme is a distance education programme delivered by NUI Galway in collaboration with Croí, Diabetes Ireland and the Irish Heart Foundation. This interdisciplinary programme is aimed at professionals with a range of backgrounds (e.g. nursing, public health, general practice, pharmacy, nutrition and exercise sciences) who wish to develop knowledge, skills and competencies in the principles and practice of health promotion as applied to the promotion of cardiovascular health and the prevention of type 2 diabetes. The curriculum which comprises 30 ECTS, is designed for home study with tutor support and contact workshops and is scheduled to commence in October 2014, subject to a prescribed minimum number of registrations.
