Registration has now opened for the One Health event to mark European Antibiotics Awareness Day to be held on the 20th November 2018 in the National Convention Centre Dublin. 

 

This is a partnership event hosted by the Department of Health, Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and the Health Service Executive.  The aim of the free one-day event to raise awareness of antimicrobial resistance and facilitate the sharing of learning.  We will look to explore best practice amongst healthcare and veterinary professionals in relation to use, prescribing and management of antibiotics in human and animal health.  This event also supports the goals of Ireland’s National Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance 2017 – 2020.

 

This event welcomes delegates from human health, animal health and environment sectors with a specific emphasis on those working in the areas of prescribing, antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention and control and related areas.  Healthcare professionals, veterinary professionals, environment professionals, researchers, policy makers and regulators are welcome to apply for a place,  Numbers are limited so registration should be applied for as soon as possible.  

 

Aims of event

  1. To create a multidisciplinary dialogue on the experiences and challenges of dealing with AMR and ensuring appropriate antibiotic stewardship across sectors
  2. To increase awareness and maintain the profile and importance of the need for timely action on AMR
  3. To improve appropriate use, prescribing and management of antibiotics by sharing the learning and exchange of best practice across and between healthcare and veterinary professionals
  4. To showcase tools and supports, including guidelines and materials, which may help professionals achieve appropriate antibiotic use in their practice.

 

The event will be structured to ensure debate and dialogue and enable delegates to participate in discussion. The opening session, international speakers and key note sessions will be centred on human health, animal health and behavioural change.  The One Health event will provide information and enable delegates to form a considered overall view of AMR in line with the One Health approach.  A final agenda will be available on the Eventbrite registration system
