The RCSI School of Pharmacy and the Irish Institute of Pharmacy are proud to have the opportunity to welcome colleagues from East Tennessee State University this Spring for a unique educational masterclass. Our event will focus on the theme of developing interprofessional practice in the provision of healthcare, an area of increasing significance in the training of future healthcare providers in Ireland. As a pioneering institution in interprofessional training in health sciences education, ETSU will present on the journey undertaken towards the implementation of this model of patient care locally and will discuss the effects of applying a collaborative team-based approach in the delivery of healthcare.

We are hopeful that this event will be beneficial in providing an Irish audience a platform to consider how interprofessional engagement amongst healthcare providers can improve patient outcomes. We would be delighted for you to join us in attending the masterclass which we are confident will inspire interesting ideas and conversations within an Irish context. For further information on the event including a schedule of events and speaker profiles, please see the attached overview.

To register your attendance at the masterclass, please RSVP to pharmacy@rcsi.ie

To offer an insight into the themes which will be explored at the masterclass, in the short video below Dr. McKenzie Calhoun and colleagues at the Kingsport Medical Center, Johnson City, East Tennessee discuss how a model of interprofessional collaboration is typically applied and put into practice in the care of patients at the center, highlighting the importance and value of a team-based approach in enhancing the provision of healthcare in the local community.
