Pharmacies play a critical role in helping patients understand their health issues and the steps they can take to improve their health. The Crystal Clear Mark recognises pharmacies that deliver a health literacy friendly service to their patients. This means the service takes account of the literacy and numeracy needs of its patients. It also recognises that the service regularly evaluates and improves its health literacy practices.

The Crystal Clear Pharmacy Programme (https://www.nala.ie/crystalclear) was developed by NALA, MSD and the Irish Pharmacy Union to recognise the role pharmacies play in helping patients understand their health issues and the practical steps they can take to improve their health.

To become a Crystal Clear Pharmacy, you must do an online audit. To complete this online Audit click here

The audit involves answering nine questions and supplying evidence (such as photographs of clear signage, examples of clearly written letters, describing ways that staff communicate effectively with patients) of how your pharmacy works in a literacy friendly way.
