This National Competency Framework aims to inform the development and provision of training for pharmacists working in cancer care. In addition, it addresses the need to optimise medicine use, to improve the quality of care and to improve outcomes for patients with cancer by illustrating the behaviours, skills and knowledge pharmacists require for working in cancer care.
This competency framework can be used at an individual level to measure performance and to help pharmacists working in cancer care, through reflection, to identify gaps in their continuing professional development needs. At a more strategic level, it can be used as a method to inform the development and provision of training and education for pharmacists working in cancer care.
